September 2019 Energy Update: Runes

September 2019 Energy Update: Runes

For this month’s energy forecast, I’ve invoked the ancient wisdom of the Runes instead of the Tarot – those mysterious symbols carved into wood, metal or stone, most commonly affiliated with our Germanic and Nordic ancestors.

Compared with card reading, rune reading is far more simplistic in terms of its imagery but that can make reading the runes a far more difficult task to master. Whilst each rune of course has its own meaning, pay attention to any thoughts or images, people or situations that pop into your mind whilst considering your reading below. Those messages are the ones specific for you.

Your Reading

Runescope September 2019

The reading is broken down into 4-weekly sections or thereabouts:

Week 1

Rune Is

Rune: Is

If you’re at all familiar with the Disney film “Frozen”, you’ll know just what I mean when I describe this rune, Is, as my “Elsa” stone! Foreigner’s “Cold as Ice” song from the Seventies also sprang to mind.

This suggests that there may be a certain coldness or isolation by yourself or those around you at the start of September 2019. A feeling of still being “stuck” in similar energy to that experienced in August 2019. A need for patience at a time when it may be wearing thin. Things will start to move again but slowly.

Week 2

Rune Rad

Rune: Rad

Similar energy to The Chariot card of the tarot, Rad is indicative of journeys. These can be spiritual or physical in nature. However, with the rune coming out reversed, this may mean slow progress and delays.

Some slow progress might be noticeable in your life come Week 2 of September 2019 but you’ll still probably feel frustrated and impatient at the pace. Use this time to do your research, listen to warnings and ensure you’re well prepared for any journeys you’re about to take.

Week 3

Rune Feoh

Rune: Feoh

Abundance is indicated by the presence of Feoh in matters of health, wealth and relationships. Being reversed however could be indicative of a feeling of lack or of something missing.

Right around Week 3 you may be feeling as though something is missing in your life. This doesn’t have to be a bad thing! Noticing that need is the first step in addressing any areas of imbalance whether in terms of a new healthy eating regime, exercise and self-care or taking back control of any financial issues. Relationships of all kinds can benefit from this energy too, as people are clearer about asking for what they truly need from each other.

Week 4 & Beyond

Rune Ger

Rune: Ger

The rune of seasonal changes and harvest comes out just after we celebrate the Harvest Festival on 22 September 2019 here in the UK. This rune cannot be read “reversed”. Similar energy to the Wheel of Fortune card in the Tarot.

Whether Week 4 is a time of celebration of your own particular “harvest” in your own life will really depend on your efforts and perseverance through the slower energies of the past few weeks. Have you been patient and diligent, consistent and balanced in this time or have you tried to take shortcuts and been sloppy? This rune is also associated with the wheel so could be somehow related to the journey of Week 2 or to the Wheel of Life and its cycles. There is a karmic element to this rune too; a time of “reaping what you have sown”, all of which links back itself to this idea of it being harvest time.

The Takeaway

Quite the mixed bag for September then! It pretty much feels a tale of two halves, with the heavy, slow progress energy of August 2019 seeping over into the first week or so of September.

But stick with it – by the end of Week 2 movement of some sort seems evident. A time for making plans and research, the benefits of which will be felt towards the latter part of the month once you’ve had your moment of clarity on anything you feel may be lacking in your life. This is when you’ll begin to reap your own “harvest” from all efforts in all areas of your own life over these frustratingly slow last few weeks.

Don’t shortchange yourself then; no shortcuts, eyes on the prize and hopefully the results of your harvest should payoff.

Free Oracle Reading For You

Ask the Oracle!

Step inside the fabulously nonsensical World of Wonderland and look at your problems from a very different point of view through the wisdom of Alice: The Wonderland Oracle.

Before reading further, I would like you to look at each of the 3 cards above in turn whilst considering your query. What is it you wish the Oracle to reveal to you? Which card do you feel drawn to?

The card on the left is Card 1, the card in the middle Card 2 and the card on the right is Card 3

Card 1: MortalityLife is Brief, Beautiful and Yours to Live!

At first glance, this card can be scary, much like the Death card of the tarot. However, it does not portend an actual death of someone – more accurately it portends the death of everyone – one day. If you chose Card 1, you are being asked whether or not you are living your best life or are you taking the next day for granted? If so, your Oracle message is to start making memories now, today, not “one day”, as one day it may be too late.

Card 2: I Want to be a Queen Stating Your Sovereignty – Declaring Freedom – Passing a Test

Having passed through a trying time, you are now ready to rule as Queen (or King!) of your world if you selected Card 2. You recognise both your rights and responsibilities in how you live your life, your potential and place in the world. You are no longer willing to live by boundaries and rules you do not agree with at “any cost”, and certainly not at the cost of the freedom to be you. You are focused and are in a good position to make decisions. Your Oracle message is to now step into your power and take charge of your life!

Card 3: Growing Up Wanting to Grow in Experience – Rejection of Perpetual Youth

Selecting Card 3 denotes a worry of growing old, of not wishing to grow up and face responsibilities or simply not accepting how you are ageing gracefully, whilst at the same time appreciating that growing up is very much a part of life. Maybe you are feeling torn; wishing to stay forever young but perhaps not feeling it? The Oracle’s message for you is to know that whilst the body may age and the soul/spirit too, all age really is, is proof of our experiences, memories and wisdom. Would you really trade all of that to look/feel forever young?

Did the Oracle have a message for you?

I do hope that the Oracle had a meaningful message for you – remember tools of divination such as the Oracle cards are meant to help you in your life’s journey, not set out in stone how things will turn out. To really get the most from these readings, meditate on your message for a while, ask yourselves the questions raised and become an active part of the reading which though intended for all who read it, will have an individual message just for you.

Until next time….

Ready to Unlock the Mysteries of the Tarot?

Ready to Unlock the Mysteries of the Tarot?

Introduction

Tarot decks, in some form or another, have been around for centuries, with some tracing their origins back to the ancient world such as Ancient Egypt, whilst others say that their use didn’t actually originate in a form recognisable today until more like the 15th century, most commonly linked with places such as Italy and France.

Maybe it’s the fact that the origins of the cards themselves cannot fully be explained that continues to create the air of mystery that surrounds tarot reading even now in the 21st century, along with the numerous myths, beliefs and superstitions relating to the subject.

What Makes the Tarot So Mysterious?

Whenever I tell someone that I read the tarot, their reaction to this information can be quite fascinating itself. Some are intrigued and express an interest in having a reading, others tell me they think it’s a load of mumbo-jumbo, whilst quite a few inform me that they have heard that the tarot is “evil” and that it’s a type of black magic or satanic which, frankly, really surprises me in this day and age.

But maybe the real secrets of the tarot lie in its simplicity. Whether your question, query or problem is straightforward or more complicated, the images on the cards will always prompt a reaction of some sort. It does not matter if the issue relates to love, career, travel, family, friendship or something else, the images on the cards and their general meanings do not change.

The type of question asked, the deck and spread used as well as the card’s position in the spread, whether it is being read in its upright or reversed meaning and how to read the cards as a whole within the spread i.e. how they relate to one another, do of course change the messages revealed in a reading but the actual meaning of the cards themselves are constant when looked at in their general sense.

So, Can Anyone Work With the Tarot?

What I think makes the cards so mysterious is the belief that only “readers” can understand the messages of the tarot. Whenever I read for someone, I encourage them to be an active part of the reading, rather than passively waiting for the meaning of the cards to be dictated to them.

In this sense, my role as “the reader” is far more rewarding – the person being read for becomes able to read the cards themselves, guided by me on some of the more complex aspects of tarot reading e.g. the card placement, how each card relates to the other cards in the spread, astrological links and any additional information that is specific to the spread and deck being used.

Whenever I’ve used this technique, the querent (person asking the question) becomes able to tell the story revealed in the images on the cards themselves – who knows the querent and their particular situation better than they do? Often they start off visibly nervous and/or anxious about what the cards might tell them but, as the reading progresses, their confidence in understanding the general messages of the tarot also becomes apparent as they realise the power they hold in working with the messages received.

How to Unlock the Mysteries of the Tarot Then?

The quickest way to start getting to grips with the mysteries of the tarot is to buy yourself a deck and begin with the Major Arcana (the cards numbered from Card 0 The Fool to Card 21 The World) and jot down whatever comes to mind when you look at those cards.

You can then compare your own impressions with whatever it says in the guidance book accompanying your deck. Were there any similarities/differences in what you felt or thought when you looked at the cards and what the book says? It doesn’t mean that your insights were “wrong” so it’s important not to second guess yourself at this point. You have just picked up on some individual messages and energies that may well be unique to you. You may wish to start your own “tarot journal” where you pull one card per day from the Major Arcana and see if the messages you receive over time change at all. Jot it all down in your journal. In this way, you build up your knowledge of the traditional meanings of the cards at the same time as learning to listen and trust your own intuitive messages. I still get new messages coming through with decks and spreads I’ve used for years and that really is part of the mystery of the tarot.

Want to Learn More?

I suggest working with the Major Arcana first as these tend to represent more obvious energies or situations that we are familiar with than the Minor Arcana at first glance.

However, I do understand that many people prefer to be “taught” how to read the cards and their energies. As a result, I’ve decided to begin working on a Free E-Book which can be used to help direct you through the mysteries of the Major Arcana and, if this proves popular, this can be expanded on to include the Minor Arcana also.

If this is something that you think could be of interest to you, leave me a comment as I intend to make the first copy of this Free E-Book available to those who express interest in it first and foremost by setting up a regular, members-only, email subscription just for those who sign up for this exclusive content.

Pick a Card, Any Card!

Pick a Card, Any Card!

For those of you that prefer your tarot to be more traditional, I’ve put aside my more exotic decks in favour of a deck based on the Rider-Waite creation of Dr Arthur Edward Waite for this week’s reading.

What I like about the Rider-Waite inspired decks, is that they are so accessible to anyone, with universally-recognised symbols (especially in the Major Arcana part of the deck), regardless of previous experience.

Your Reading

I’ve chosen a slightly different way of reading for you today – take a moment to think of a question or to focus on something that is bothering you that you would like to gain more insight on.

Choose one only of the 3 cards in the picture for your card

In the picture above, I’ve laid out 3 cards for you to choose from. Now that you have your “query”, select one card only from the 3 as “your” card.

  • The card on the left is Card 1;
  • The card in the middle is Card 2; and
  • The card on the right is Card 3.

Which card did you choose? See your card’s meaning below….

Card 1 – Strength Reversed/Inverted

For those of you who have selected Card 1, your message is Strength reversed. You may be feeling as though you have met your match. Maybe fighting fire with fire is not the best way of dealing with your particular problem? Could you adopt a different, perhaps a more gentle approach, which being more unexpected could help to shift the odds in your favour?

Card 2 – Knight of Cups

Those of you selecting Card 2 may have received, or be about to receive, an unexpected message of love. Knight energy can be that “sweep you off your feet” type of energy, exciting and dashing. Just be sure that it’s not going to fizzle out as fast as it arrived before acting on such messages if you’re hoping for something a little longer-lasting.

For those of you not looking for love, a message may still be received but perhaps from a friend or family member wishing to reconnect.

Card 3 – Nine of Wands Reversed/Inverted

If you selected Card 3, then you’re likely feeling overburdened and overwhelmed by things at the moment. There’s the potential for things to get worse before they get better but what this tells you is that it’s sensible to take whatever steps you can now to lighten the load for yourself. Ask yourself what you absolutely have to do in respect of your query and what is just desirable. Is there anyone you could ask for help from? Are you practising self-care to help you deal with your burdens?

Which card did you choose?

Remember – the purpose of the tarot is not necessarily to foretell the future but to provide you with a different perspective or approach to your particular problem. Looking at things from a different point of view, very often, is all we need to more clearly see the way ahead.
